Rose Rocks

We are working hard to preserve Oklahoma’s rare geological state rock, the barite rose, commonly known as a ‘Rose Rock’.  Rose rocks only occur in very few places on the earth, Oklahoma being the number one place that they are found. 

In November 2022, our GeoHeritage Status was approved and added to the National Parks Service’s website.
